Leaving Lake Titicaca.
Wonderful snow-capped mountains, the train reached about 4,300m at the highest point
There were lots of small herds of cattle or flocks of sheep each with their own shepherd...sometimes individually tethered.
Some shanty towns..
A dramatic landscape.
Dave and I enjoying a 'Pisco Sour' - the national drink in Peru.
As the train went through towns it passed, incredibly closely, by lots of market stalls - no barriers at all!
The stalls sold everything from clothes, to food, to a great range of hardware...
The toilet seat had a very eventful morning as it nearly missed the train! We pulled away from the station and it was sitting on the platform, after much shouting and arm waving, one of the porters grabbed it and ran up the track after the train with it! Once on board it seemed delighted to be playing with Lucas on the ipad. It seemed to be very excited about going to Cusco we wondered why?....
We arrived in Cusco to a wonderful welcome. The entire Genner family waiting on the platform with a big colourful sign saying ' welcome to Cusco , Lyra, Lucas, David and Shelagh'. It was great. Lots of hugs and smiles all around. We walked up to the hostel where we are staying with the Genners - only 20 minutes said Steve - it took 20 minutes of Steve Genner full speed march......phew!
