The unveiling of the toilet seat

(DH writes) Cusco is full of bright sunshine during the day which for us means breakfast outside with the Genners in the little courtyard of our hostel..perfect.

We passed the toilet seat onto Steve, who proceeded to gut it...

And lo and behold....

It contained 3 spare tyres and a new fuel pump for their stove.

Lyra and Lucas are really enjoying spending some time playing with Charlie and Henry. We have spent the last few days wandering around, getting to know Cusco. It is a lovely city, although I have to say that we have seen more tourists here in the last few days than we have encountered collectively in all the other places we have visited in the last 6 1/2 weeks.

Protestors in the central plaza complaining about the price of fuel (!)

Some great buildings

Small Parts do the old Incan city still remain, like this wall, despite the best intentions of the Spanish conquistadors.

Out with the Genners

After having had a stomach bug for 5 days in a row, I decided to get myself checked out at the local clinic.... thankfully Pippa came along to translate..... I discovered that not only did I have a salmoella type bacterial infection, I also had something joyriding in my bowels.....Giardia lamblia .... a flagellated protozoan parasite usually transmitted through raw sewage..... Yum yum. Anyway. Pills and tablets dispensed, so I'm now waiting to see if they work.
