A truly wonderful place.

What a fabulous place. Every time we snorkel, we see more and more things. The water may be cold enough to require a wetsuit, but it is fantastically clear. The abundance of fish makes it feel like snorkelling in an aquarium. We saw another shark and absolutely thousands of fish.Today we walked up to the top of a volcano to look down on one of the most famous views of the Galapagos . We snorkelled from the beach on the right and around the point.

This heron looked like it was about to be mounted by the Sally light foot crab

The island is like a moonscape at the top

The views were amazing

As were the marine iguanas

There is a striated heron in here somewhere... the only land based predator of the crabs

(Lucas writes)

In the afternoon, we went on a trek over a lava field which was 163 years old. There was hardly any life at all, but we saw a marine iguana and 7 1/2 lava lizards ( I saw a tail).

The cooling lava had made lots of different patterns, some of them looked like rope.
